Frequently Asked Questions

  • Seniors or their families simply call or email us and our transportation counselors will match you with a volunteer who will drive you to your destination.

  • To be eligible for our services, you must be at least 60 years of age and live in Westchester County or Putnam County in New York.

  • The volunteer driving services we coordinate are totally free, as is the use of our weekly shopping buses. Our robust referral service and care management is also provided at no charge.

  • Our volunteers are available according to their own schedules, which may include weekends and evenings, as well as regular working hours. You can request a ride for any time or day, and we will do our best to find a volunteer who can accommodate.

    Our office is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

    You may contact us after hours by email or voicemail, and we will get back to you during regular business hours.

  • RideConnect serves residents aged 60 and over throughout Westchester and Putnam counties.

  • It’s easy! Simply call 914-242-7433 Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, and our transportation counselors will assist in coordinating a ride for you. Or, if you prefer, fill out this ride request form online.

  • You can request a ride anywhere in Westchester or Putnam Counties. Our clients go to the hairdresser, shopping trips, cultural and community events, employment, medical appointments, visits with friends and family, and much more! Wherever you’d like to go, our transportation counselors will make every effort to find a volunteer driver best suited for your transportation needs.

  • Yes! Westchester seniors looking to learn more about supportive services can now speak directly to a dedicated care manager, who will provide personalized information. We also maintain a list of other senior services in both counties. Please visit the Community Resources Page. Since RideConnect is a program of Family Services of Westchester, our transportation counselors have access to over 50 other senior- and family-focused programs and services.

  • We’d love to have you join our volunteer family! If you have reliable wheels, a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a bit of time, you’re a perfect fit.
